Use your webcam to read credit cards and pay online

Just recently I was reading about a new way to pay via credit card in online shops, called Netswipe. What it does is taking a picture of your card to speed up the process of typing in your details by hand. Here is a short clip outlining the way it works:

From my point of view this will not really take of as I cannot see any user getting used to this way of entering payment details in a secure way. You would always fear there has been a picture taken of your card details and who knows where this is saved in between your browser and the server.

However, this process of scanning card details via smartphones is really what would make Square much faster to roll out and let them drop the hardware they currently send out for free.
