Commerce Revolution News: Bahn AG starts Touch & Travel for public

The German railroad company Bahn AG announced that the project Touch & Travel will now be officially launched as a way to purchase tickets. The project was started several years ago and was in a testing phase until now, which was open to only few testers. Now all far distance train stations will be equipped with Touchpoint named terminals where the customer can use his NFC enabled phone or simply type in the terminal ID in the app running on his mobile. Location based service will track the route of the traveler and at the destination the terminal has to be used again to log out. The ticket price will then be debited to the bank account of the customer. For the start the customers need an iPhone or Android device to run the app or use NFC. The user has to register on the website to create an account to store his bank account details. For the start the service will only work with the mobile providers Telekom and Vodafone, but other German provider will follow.
