I was always pretty intrigued by the start-up Birchbox. It’s a really clever idea – the company markets high-end beauty supplies and fashion items by shipping a few random samples in a cute little brown box to subscribers every month. I never thought I would get it for myself, because I already have so many beauty supplies that I don’t use. A friend ended up surprising me on my birthday with a 3-month subscription, and I actually really loved getting my Birchboxes every month! Not only did they keep you hooked with the element of surprise, but who doesn’t love getting packages? They also always included an interesting assortment of products. Although some products were of no use to me, some I ended up falling in love with. I’m not sure if I would go out of my way to purchase those products on my own, but it was nice…
